Is it suitable to feed sheep at night? This depends on the situation. If the sheep is full, do not feed it at night. If the sheep is not full, it is also necessary to feed the sheep at night. For commercial sheep raising, feed pellets can be fed to the sheep in winter. For large-scale farms with conditions, consider purchasing a sheep feed pellet machine or a set of sheep feed pellet production line equipment. After all, sheep feed pellets are convenient to store and have high nutritional value. They are very suitable for feeding in spring and autumn and cold winter.

I. Nutritional Benefits

If the sheep is full every day, the nutrition will be sufficient, the disease will be less, and the growth will be fast. The weight of the lamb born at the beginning of the year can reach 1.2 times that of the average adult sheep at the end of the year. Breeding sheep have strong fecundity, more lambs, high survival rate of lambs, and good fur quality for wool. However, the way of raising sheep in our country is basically grazing. In spring, summer and early autumn, when the grass is lush, the sheep can eat their fullness, and some can only eat 80% of their fullness. In late autumn, winter and early spring, sheep generally can only eat half full, especially in the cold season, sheep can only eat a small amount of hay, which is not enough to maintain life, and there is no growth at all. This kind of sheep, which only relies on grazing without feeding grass, and is severely deficient in nutrients, is often diseased, and the meat-based type takes one and a half years to be slaughtered, and the fat is poor, and the weight does not reach the required standard. The slaughter rate ( The percentage of saleable meat in body weight) is below 50. The hair-producing type has poor fur quality, low fecundity for seeding, less lambs, and low survival rate.

II. Digestibility

The digestive tract of sheep is 30-35 times the body length, and can digest and absorb roughage well. In particular, the rumen of sheep occupies 2/3 of the stomach. There are a large number of microorganisms in it, which can decompose and digest 70-95 cellulose in the feed into organic acids. It can decompose and synthesize the protein in the forage into bacterial protein. Synthesize a variety of amino acids and B vitamins. The cecum and colon of sheep can also digest about 19% of the dry matter of feed. Sheep are ruminant herbivores. The grass eaten during the day is only initially chewed and swallowed into the stomach, and then chewed slowly in the mouth at night. Therefore, when the sheep enters the pen in the evening, even if the belly looks big, it is not overfull. If the belly is not protruding enough, it will go hungry at night, and there will not be enough food in the stomach to ruminate.

III. Add Supper as Appropriate

1. In order to prevent the sheep from not getting enough to eat, feed the nutrient-rich and palatable concentrate, such as corn, in an appropriate amount at night, to promote the growth of fat. 20 days before mating of ewes, the forage of each sheep should be mixed with about 0.1 kg of concentrate every night, 0.2-0.3 kg in the second trimester, and 0.4 kg in the late pregnancy. Mix about 0.5 kg in the early lactation, about 0.7 kg in the twins, reduce it in the middle of lactation, and stop supplementing in the late lactation. Breeding rams are very active during grazing during the day to catch up with the ewes. Therefore, they are generally not full, especially during the breeding season. They are often not half full. They should be fed with sufficient high-quality green material every night for artificial semen collection. For rams, mix 2-3 eggs or duck eggs in the forage every night.

2. Feed high-quality and good palatability green grass, the amount of which should be eaten that night and there will be no leftover grass in the next morning.

3. Table salt is an essential nutrient for sheep, and grazing alone cannot meet the needs of sheep. When feeding night grass to sheep, salt should be sprinkled on the grass, or salt can be sprinkled in the water trough. Adult sheep each night is 5— 6 grams is appropriate, and the lamb should be reduced. You can use salt bricks with a small amount of RMB and minerals and hang them in the sheep house to let the sheep lick freely, which saves time and effort.

4. In the severe cold season, if there is not enough grass, you should add about 0.5 kg of concentrate and appropriate amount of green vegetables when feeding hay. For meat sheep 1-2 months before slaughter, concentrate should be added to the feed, about 1 kilogram each night.
